I'm
in a group of ten guys who participate
in the league as owners
Every
spring before baseball season starts, we get together to
draft our players:
Each
owner draws a number and the draft proceeds
in that order, 1 through 10, and then
10 through 1
Each
owner must draft, from any MLB team, 10 pitchers, 2
catchers, 5 outfielders, 3 corner infielders(1B & 3B),
3 middle infielders (2B & SS), and one extra hitter
How
do we "play" (and win)?
We
get credit for the stats the players generate, in 5
hitting and 5 pitching categories.
So
if the sum of your home runs from all of your players
leads the league, you get 8 points for that, 7 for
2nd, etc.
We
add up the points you get for each category
The
leader is the person who has the most points - during
the season this is important, for the owner in the
lowest position has first option to pick a player from
the "free agent list" each week.
The
winner at the end of the season is the owner with the
most points
Our
league
subscribes to a statistics service that
keeps track of all the points, and
all the changes during the season. Our "commissioner" faxes
lineup changes to them each week.
Our
lineup changes include: drafting players from the "free
agent pool" and replacing current players with them;
and making trades with other players.
How
long have I been doing this, and how have I fared?
