Background Information

The Talented Researcher in Engineering (TRIE) Program held at Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) is designed to enlighten students in the fields of engineering. Twelve students from the Chatham and Effingham county area were excepted into the program after completing an application process. These students were recognized for their interest in mathematics and science.

The program funded my a grant from NASA was designed to encourage students to pursue careers in engineering. The classes are held at AASU from the June 18th through June 27th, monday through friday from 9am until 4:30pm. During the class studetns participate in lectures and activities in the fields mathematical and computational modeling, computer-aided design, robotics and graphical programming, mechanics, and thermodynamics from AASU professors. The intructors include Cameron Coates, professor in Engineering Studies, Priya Goeser professor in Engineering Studies, Wayne Johnson , professor in Engineering Studies, and Chris McMarthy, professor in School of Computing. Students are also assigned a group porject,(Matlab, Operation Miles Dyson Robotics, Computer Aid Design, or Internet Programming & HTML) which they present to a panel of judges at the end of the course.
